Definition of poetry

The question of what is inspiration, poetry, and language cannot be answered except by inspired language, by poetry itself. The best study of the language of a poem is written as a poem. The best insight into the “secret” of inspiration is this public and eloquent remembrance of it, ending in a failure that is nonetheless fruitful.

Go completely into your eyes, don’t look away,
Don’t blink your brows,
Soar from the pupil of your eye and stay with Me,
Blissfully alone.

And when you return from Our solitude,
Your verse will be a divine crucifix
And on it quite a human cry
As no language can hold a candle to your ancient remembrance.
