War and Patriotism

War is just a consequence. The cause is our neglected psyche, a space which has bred and given birth to many dark corners where destructive passions lurked. And it is where war starts, in the psyche and in the mind, that it should also end. Otherwise, in essence, there is no end to it.

Patriotism? But to what is our true allegiance? It is to spirit and conscience and to human values. If we are not loyal to our true homeland, that is, to the values of peace, truth, and non-violence, if there is not in us that state of unconditional Love consciousness about which all religions speak, then every local patriotism is easily transformed into a cover-up for crime and a nationalistic hysteria infects people like the plague. If we belong to the nation of mankind, the human race, and if in that sense of belonging we naturally seek justice and truth for all of us, then we are supreme patriots.
