Places and Environments

Vesna was born in Dubrovnik in 1932. She received her education in Split, Zagreb and New Delhi. In Zagreb she majored in English and in Psychology. In New Delhi she studied Bengali. She has lived in various places and environments. Out of all these places, the one she considers her very own is eternal India. This is followed by the Dubrovnik of her childhood and then ancient Egypt. With her husband, a diplomat in the former Yugoslavia, and her three children, she has lived in Cairo, Washington, Accra and Belgrade, where she now lives.

She has travelled in order to get in touch with herself, to recognize, to remember, to discover who she really is. Among the places she has visited are Yucatan, Delphi, Baalbek, Paris, Rome, Ur, Tokyo, and the high Himalayas. From all the mystical places of power along the Earth’s meridians, it is the amazing settlement of Marcahuasi in the Andes that remains unvisited but the old dream to see it has long since disappeared.

For the last thirty years or so, all her journeys have come together and met in one and the same place, a place which until recently could not be found on any map-Prashanti Nilayam.
