Thoughts and Reflections

Talking about good and evil and the solution to the conflict between them, Sathya Sai said that in the world of today the proportion between good and evil is three to one, that is, three fourths of evil against one fourth of good. So how is a wheat field to be saved if the weeds have grown three times higher than the wheat? It seems inevitable that the three fourths will drown out and choke the remaining one fourth. How can the weeds be taken out and have the wheat survive? How can the weeds be safely removed when their roots are so lethally entangled with the roots of the wheat? No one today is completely innocent in the creation of Stalin, Hitler, Bin Laden, a silicon man, the destruction of churches, the manufacturing of viruses and tsunamis. We are all to a greater or lesser extent involved in what is happening to us, some of us doing all sorts of things others doing nothing. Having this in mind, by weeding the wheat field and destroying the weeds we would in the process destroy the wheat as well. Then, what is to be done? These are the words of the Teacher: “Convert the weeds into wheat.” It is a slow process but we do not have time for anything quicker.
